Gabriela (Gaby) Isuani Monahan is a seasoned, bilingual trial attorney with more than 25 years of experience in complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution in a variety of industries including automotive, banking, telecommunications, consumer goods, publishing, franchise, medical products, and technology. Having started her career as a federal district court clerk followed by the position of associate and partner at Kirkland & Ellis, Gaby's background spans the gamut from international litigation and arbitration to contract negotiation, corporate governance, and legal compliance.
In addition to being a trial lawyer, Gaby has served as both in-house and outside corporate counsel and demonstrated a strong commitment to helping clients manage risks and develop global policies and procedures governing a wide array of operational issues. She honed these skills as managing director and special counsel on risk and public policy at a global accounting firm as well as through her secondment roles at both a professional services company specializing in information technology and consulting and multinational consumer products company.
Gaby's career trajectory also includes significant educational contributions, having developed and led a Law & Public Service program at Lake Travis High School in Austin, and serving on various educational committees. Born in Argentina and as a native Spanish speaker, she has a history of serving and representing the Latino community and was recently recognized for these contributions by Latino Leaders Magazine, which named her a 2023 Top Latino Lawyer. Gaby currently serves on the boards of the US-Mexico Bar Association and the Texas Advocacy Project, the latter of which empowers survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking through free legal services and access to the justice system, and advances prevention through public outreach and education.
Trial counsel on a spectrum of commercial, employment, partnership, joint ventures, franchise, distributorship, and IP disputes, including claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential information, trademark infringement, breach of contract and fiduciary duties, breach of nondisclosure agreements, defamation, unfair competition, and deceptive trade practices.
Trial counsel on international and domestic business litigation involving fraud, breach of contract and fiduciary duties, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, mismanagement, negligence, tortious interference with business, product liability, antitrust, and class actions in state and federal courts and before arbitral tribunals, mainly AAA, ICC, and JAMS.
Advised clients on media strategy in anticipation of litigation by foreign governments and conducted press conferences and meetings in Spanish with legislative representatives in Latin America.
Advise start-ups on employment, contract negotiations, trade secret protection, and marketing strategies.
Develop training modules for c-suite on legal risks related to master services agreements, distributorships, nondisclosure agreements, noncompetes and marketing strategies.
